Has Anyone Heard Of The OWLiver Test?

A MyObesityTeam Member asked a question 💭

Follow up question- I went to my dr and they believe my symptoms maybe caused by a fatty liver. Anyone else have this? Sounds very common among obese. My Dr ordered a blood test called OWLiver and is supposed to tell me if I have it and what stage. Anxious for potential results.
Thank you in advance

Hi Mikki! Thanks for sharing your story! I’m glad to hear you were able to reverse it. My doctor said similar that if it comes back positive, diet and exercise should do the trick. Easier said than done of course but glad to know there is a solution. Seems like so many things can be solved by weight loss. I’ll just have to keep working. Happy to hear no indication of your fatty liver returning! My sister has tried Noom. She had some success and liked that it was trying to change her mindset rather than restricting as many other diets do. Good luck! Would love to hear how it goes for you.
I did some reading up on the OWLiver. It does seem quite new. Supposedly the only test to catch the early stages of fatty liver. I’ll definitely share follow up with group when results are in if it seems like it could be helpful to others.
Thank you and have a happy Friday💖💖

Hi Elle! I'd had abnormal enzyme levels show up on lab work back in 2018, combined with an ultrasound was a fairly certain diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, as I had 2 small lesions appear on U/S. it is 100% reversible by losing weight--even 5% weight loss will reduce those lab values. I had just begun Noom at that point, so losing weight was in process. I was successful so far as 60 pounds lost on that program, and felt better--plus all my labs were in the normal ranges again. I've regained all that and then some, but haven't had abnormal labs in that time frame. I've not heard of the OWLiver test, it seems to be fairly new perhaps?

Now my biggest hurdle is hormonal. I'm approaching 50 and it's no easy feat to lose weight now.
