Have You Gotten A Liver Workup?

A MyObesityTeam Member asked a question 💭

Posted recently about getting my liver tested. I received my results and I have fibrosis on my liver. I was given a new prescription that should help
My NP educated me quite a bit on the disease and figured I would share. Turns out, over 70% of diabetics and 90% of bmis over 35 have it. I’m both of those so makes sense
So this is more of a PSA to the group to check on your liver.
Hopefully yall can detect it earlier. I got the OWLiver done which I overall liked and supposedly is best for… read more

@ juliBarberOW Liver," more commonly referred to as "OWLiver," is a non-invasive blood test used to diagnose different stages of Metabolic dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), also known as Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), by analyzing specific lipids in the blood through a process called metabolomics; essentially, it helps detect potential liver damage without the need for a liver biopsy.
Key points about OWLiver:
What it detects:
It can identify various stages of MASLD, including the potentially harmful stages, by assessing liver fat content, inflammation, and fibrosis levels.
How it works:
A blood sample is analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS) to measure specific lipid metabolites.
Benefits:
Considered a non-invasive method for monitoring liver health, particularly useful for individuals at risk of NAFLD due to factors like obesity or diabetes.

Wow Karen! Thanks for that. That was more than I knew! I’d definitely recommend. We all are at high risk for fatty liver with our weight😓 Found the company that has the test. Maybe they’d help (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators)
