How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

A MyObesityTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi...I'm wondering how frequently I should be weighing myself...and does it matter if it's morning or night?...

It really doesn't matter actually how many times one weighs themselves in a week. Or in a day. If really curious. Just don't panic and get discouraged, because important to keep in mind that one's weight fluctuates from day to day and from morning to night. Water retention, heavy meal, time of month, exercise, perspiration, fasting, medications, etc. can all cause this. But to compare fat loss or gain progress, pick one day of the week and preferable best first thing in morning. Nude or in undies. Use this same day of week for calculating. The difference in weight from say...Saturday to Saturday would be pretty accurate. This is when you can pat yourself on the back for good job or figure out what went wrong and make necessary adjustments. And use same scale for the week-to-week weigh in. I am on and off the scales at random. But I have Saturday as my comparison day. Each Saturday after weighing in I write my weight on a calendar. This is a good visual to keep track of how one is doing.

i only weigh myself once a week and try not to get disturb by the number good or bad, because that add stress and stress is not good when you try to loose weight.

I only get weighed at the dr office. I find weighing yourself just adds stress and panic to the whole process.
