I agree with the article below. We often cannot control things that happen to us. Such as death of loved ones, etc. But I feel we do have a choice to be negative or positive in our thinking. It is only human to feel sadness, grief, etc. at appropriate times. But the choice is whether we let these feeling totally consume us and affecting our lives in a negative way. I strive to live more in the present. Can't change the past. Nor can totally forget it. But I try not to dwell on it. And thinking too far ahead, just creates apprehension and worry. Often about things that never actually happen. So when people say , just take one day at a time, I find it easier to maintain a more upbeat attitude by living this way. Naturally we have to plan ahead , and should prepare for our futures so when we do reach our older years...we can coast. That is what I am doing. Surround yourself with positive thinkers, people that treat you well and those company you enjoy being in. Eliminate people and things , if possible, that create drama and unhappy feelings . Best wishes. Breathe and stop to smell the roses.

My favorite way is to focus on the things I am grateful for! I will do a list of 10 or more a day...especially bad days. And you have to face the bad stuff too, to change it. So a healthy balance taking it one step at a time, and make sure to love the journey...or try lol.
