Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y)
I'm only 18 and I weigh 347 pounds. I was considering GBP. I've struggled with my weight all my life (weighing a whopping 210 at 8 years old). I'm graduating high school soon and am ready to start a new chapter, so that means being healthy. Should I do it? Or do I have better options?
Hi Sweetie... welcome to the site... it is nice to see you here...I have some views on GBP, there are pros and cons from both sides if you talk to ones who have had it done... there are success stories and those who have had nothing but complications from the surgery... one of the things that I would strongly suggest and investigate is who would be doing the surgery and what is the success rate that this Dr. have with his patients. Be pro-active and as all the questions you have, what do you have to do to be eligible, and what will be required when the surgery is complete and what kind of complications can occur from the surgery... What kind of diet will I be required to eat after the surgery, exercise regime, how long is the healing process etc. it is always better to know every little about it before you do it... also ask if you will be able to work with a nutrients after the surgery so that you develop the right mind for eating and what is good for you and what you should avoid. good luck my friend... let me know how it is going and what you decide to do.
Hi hun..the only thing i would say is checkout all your avenues.if you haven't tried dieting to much why not go to a nutritionist, maybe they could help you.i know it is a struggle because i have my own struggles with it too.just try and keep strong because your not alone.
Hi, I'll be more than happy to share my story with you. I've had GB.
