I Haven't Flown In 10 Yrs Cuz Of Worry About Seat Size & Extenders, Etc. What Airline Is Best? I Don't Want To Buy A 2nd Seat. 300#/tall
I have been conscious about a 100lb gain and it has kept me from flying. Because life is to short, I want to fly. I want to go from Detroit to Vegas in September for a convention. If I were just 50 lbs lighter, there would be no problem. I'm hoping that a deadline will help is shedding those pounds, but I was hoping to book an airline that was known for their understanding with large people. I have no problem sitting by the window, as small as I can, so the middle person won't be… read more
Hey Denise, when you enter the plane just ask the stewardess for a extender. They will either just hand you one or will bring you one. when choosing your seat try to choose a row with just 2 seats. If your flying with a pal then the two of you can raise the arm between the seats and give Ya couple extra inches. If not ask the person next to you if they mind if you put armrest up. (Usually they would like it out of the way too. Lol. Legroom no one ever has enough leg room. Don't be embarrassed about being asked to move from a wing seat, it really didn't have anything to do with how fit you were. In case of emergency you have to be able to open that hatch and assist people exiting the plane. Hope this helps
I work at an airport and they do provide extensions but you may have to ask for them.
Well this won't support your question but as a first time flyer ever; my husband and I are larger people and we flew "Spirit" just recently. This is what we've learned. Seats on this plane is for smaller folks; but we did it and survived it round trip 3-5 hrs. Don't sit in the middle or window seat. Definitely pay more for larger seat w/leg room. Cheaper doesn't always pay off. 👍
or, bring your own extension. I was always too embarrassed to ask for one. Once I even faked having the seatbelt fastened by sticking it under my belly. But, the seat belt isn't really the problem. The problem is the other passengers next to you. I never did this, and I know it is an added expense, but first class does offer larger seats. And, I'm sorry, but I cannot answer your question regarding which airline is more understanding with large people. Good luck! And, enjoy Vegas :-)
ask for an extension.
