Is There Any Exercises I Can Do After Neck Surgery?
I had neck surgery in 2015 and to this day I am still having problems.I have rods and screws in my neck. I was told I would not be able to raise my arms above my head, therefore lifting weights is not possible. I know I need to exercise, but my muscles stay in a state of tightness and spasms from my neck to my shoulders. I don't feel like exercising cause I know it will put a strain on my neck and will hurt. Therefore I just don't do it. Does anyone know of any exercises I might be able to… read more
I love water aerobics. I can do so much in the pool that I could never do on land. Lunges, jumping jacks, jogging, it is the best. I even joined a local rec center so I can swim all winter long. Even though it is pretty warm in FL my pool is not heated so too cold to swim in.
Have you tried water therapy or water aerobics. I have severe foot pain so this helps me burn lots of calories without the strain of regular exercising...contract your local YMCA and see if they have a class you can try
I know it is so hard and when you try to do something and then you pay for it the next day, even driving I can't drive long distance because my neck and shoulders just hurt so much and the next day I can't do anything. I hope you find something you can do its so good to talk to you as you understand what we go through
Thank you Karen. I tried to exercise the other day and my neck and shoulders had so much pressure and pain, I just had to quit. I think I will go walking.
I to have neck problems and find it hard to exercise but I can walk up to 20 mins I can also do a bit of gardening other than that that's all I can do. The trouble is every movement you make sends pain up to your neck. I have just brought a power fit which you can stand on or sit in a chair and it just vibrates at different levels this might be a good option for you good luck and hope you find something that helps you
